In September 1944, a few days after the liberation of Paris, a young French soldier secretly crosses German lines to rejoin his fiancee in Senlis, a small town still occupied by the German army. Just as he leaves his barracks he is captured by two sergeants who were sent by General Patton to liberate Senlis. Will this comic deserter become a hero despite himself?
