In his hilarious study of religion and greed in America, Marty Feldman portrays the meek Brother Ambrose--a monk who ventures forth from the serene walls of his monastery in order to raise the money needed to save it. His mission takes him to the Los Angeles, where encounters a cast of characters both pious and perverse. Also featured are Richard Pryor as G.O.D. and an inspired performance by Andy Kaufman, as the televangelist Armageddon T. Thunderbird.
