Based on Phillipa Gregory's novel, A RESPECTABLE TRADE stars Emma Fielding as Frances Scott, an educated and refined governess who is left adrift and penniless after the death of her father. No longer young, Frances accepts a marriage proposal from the boorish and older Josiah Cole, a businessman who has recently entered the slave trade. Expecting that his new bride will train the Africans that he brings to England, Josiah could not have predicted that his business venture would put his marriage in jeopardy. When Frances encounters Mehuru, a learned, dignified, and handsome African she is to train, the pair quickly develop a mutual attraction that blossoms into a love affair that could have tragic implications for them both.
