I Don t Hate Las Vegas Anymore (1995) Poster
Blockbuster: Buy or Rent Online
Independent LA-based filmmaker Caveh Zahedi uses a road trip with his father and sixteen-year-old half-brother as a means of proving the existence of God. In a direct address to the audience, Caveh explains that he had originally written a script about a family weekend trip to Las Vegas, but that lack of sufficient funding has forced him to scrap that idea and make instead a cheaper but hopefully more exciting film. Caveh's premise is that if God exists, and if He is indeed omniscient, omnipotent and benevolent, as Caveh hopes he is, then it must be possible to throw out the script and simply start shooting, leaving it to God to provide the necessary events and to ensure the film's success. Caveh then makes a wager with the audience, promising a miracle on film to prove that he is right and that faith in God is justified.
