Based on true events that transpired on September 14, 1968, CANOA tells the story of five employees of Puebla University who set out on a hiking trip to the Mexican town of San Miguel Canoa. There, they are mistaken for radical communists by a fanatical local priest who incites the townspeople to riot, resulting in the murders of several of the men from the University.
