Anthropologist James Krippendorf is a single dad trying to raise three kids. For the past two years he's been living off of grant money to study an "undiscovered" tribe in New Guinea. Word comes that his lecture is due but there is no tribe. Out of desperation Krippendorf uses his own family who become the "Shelmikedmu" a fictional tribe.
