Before anyone writes a review you better have some credibilty, and integrity. Everyone has an opinion on everything and give them an chance to write a review they all of sudden feel like they are movie critic, or film director, the next critical panelist on the voice or idol. I did not set out to watch this movie because of awards or even because Heath Ledger was in it. NO I watched this movie because it was a Teen movie, based on high school teenagers. I googled and researched lists and IMDB teen movie lists and elimanated spoofs and horror films. Then methodically I watched 66 teen movies, from Breakfast Club, to Pretty in Pink to Ferris Buellers day off, to Fast Times at Ridgemount High etc.. Credibilty came from watching hours and hours and hours of movies that many consider the best or at least the top 10 best teen movies ever. I even watch a movie from the 1950's; "Rebel without a cause". After watching 10 Things I hate about You" I realized I just watched one of the top 10. From that short list I watched all 10 again, and this movie is in the TOP 5 Teen movies of All time. The movie itself nominated for 18 awards from the script, to the characters, to the actors and especially to Heath Ledger: Patrick Verona · Julia Stiles: Kat Stratford · Joseph Gordon-Levitt: Cameron James. Even the how well they staged an old school outcast, typical quiet bad boy, and how clever the ploy of the dates. Magically romantic in ways kids today have never known or even thought of. In fact just recently the creation of Flash mobs brought back some of the magic this movie had when Heath sings to Julia, "can't take my eyes of you". All the way till the end when she loves him so much she can only write how she hates him but in a way is shows just how much she loves him. Has anyone every even wrote a blog on the 10 things she says in her sonnet? Did anyone even count to see if there was actually ten things? NO, everyone was too busy thinking its just another teen movie, maybe above average as far as critics go, but think about those 10 things. She writes a poem about them refering to the things she noticed about him, the things that set Heath apart from everyone else. Every girl wants the bad boy whether they admit it or not, it is part of growing up. She writes; from the way he cuts his hair to his army boots, the way you read my mind? When you have a connection with someone, that you truly love you know what they are thinking. She hates when he makes her laugh even worse when you make me cry, sounds like marriage vows; in sickness and in healthy I will love you always; the good or bad. I hate when your not around? or did not call? Becuase she misses him even if its for a minute, an hour, or day. I think about you that often. and finaly as tears fall, she admits to hating the fact I can't hate you at all; Ever, No matter what you look like or how you dress or how you treat me good and bad I will love you always. There would be less divorce if every couple going through marriage counseling had to watch this passionate love story and write their own 10 things I hate (love) about each other. They probably would stay married, and sing and dance and make love that is just how powerful this movie is. Who am I? I am Joe the guy who watched 66 teen movies to rate them, who writes constantly and watches more movies than anyone you know. 100 times more than the critic who is paid to critisize movies, why? I don't watch TV, I watch movies. Even if you rank this movie in the category Love stories of all time it woudl be in the top 10 Love stories of all time, Adult movies like the African Queen and the Notebook, the way we were, I remember having to read books in high school, maybe do to technology instead of reading they could list; "10 things I hate about you"as required for all HS students. shut off the internet and use your phone and make someone you love know it, dont' text them try calling them or better yet sing to them.
