We Bought a Zoo PG for language and some thematic elements. Benjamin Mee is a recently-widowed father who moves his family to a beautiful estate miles outside the city. The only catch is that the estate is also a dilapidated zoo replete with 200 animals, and the purchase of the home is conditional on the new owner keeping the zoo and its entire staff. The Mee family subsequently sets out to rebuild and refurbish the zoo to its former glory, making new friends along the way. Bet You Didn't Know
The earliest known collection of wild animals by humans dates back to ancient Egypt, before the pharaohs. The ruler of Predynastic Egypt's largest city, Heirakonpolis, kept hippos, elephants, baboons, wildcats, dogs, hartebeest, aurochs, and possibly other animals, feeding them and caring for them in hopes of adopting their strengths and spiritual power. The Wildlife Conservation Society would not approve, however: these animals were often sacrificed and buried in ritual fashion.
