What's The Story
Edward and Carter are two men whose lives have taken very different roads. But their paths are joined when they are both diagnosed with terminal cancer. On a lark, they make a list of things they wish they done in their lives. Then they start to think that maybe it's not too late. A crafty escape from the cancer ward sends the men off on a road trip like none other. With renewed purpose, they're determined to complete as many of the list items as they can before they "kick the bucket." From jumping out of an airplane to reconciling with estranged family members, Carter and Edward will make the most of the time they have left.
Three Good Reasons
- 1Did you miss the part about Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman? They're two of the greatest American actors, both still at the top of their game.
- 2The first time Rob Reiner directed Jack Nicholson in a movie, both ended up with Oscar nominations and the world ended up with A Few Good Men.
- 3It's the first non-musical theatrical film for producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, Oscar-winners for 2002's Chicago.
Bet You Didn't Know
The origin of the phrase "kick the bucket" isn't precisely known. The best guess is that "bucket" in this sense refers not to a pail but a beam used to hang animals by their feet for slaughter.
