What's The Story
Frank Castle, whose wife and children were killed by the Mafia after witnessing a murder, has devoted the rest of his life to ruthlessly punishing criminals of all kinds. Now, after maiming the mob boss Billy Russoti, the vigilante finds that he has met his match when it comes to vengeance. Russoti -- now calling himself "Jigsaw," has gathered an army to hunt down Frank, and legitimate law enforcement is powerless to help. It's up to the Punisher to see that this Jigsaw gets put in a box.
Three Good Reasons
- 1Rather than a sequel to the 2004 film, this movie is a fresh start on the Punisher franchise that promises to be as dark and brutal as fans of the comic could hope for.
- 2Those who still pine for HBO's critically acclaimed series "Rome" will be thrilled to see Ray Stevenson in the title role.
- 3Nothing says "happy holidays" like festive red bloodstains and the jingle of silver shell casings.
Bet You Didn't Know
Director Lexi Alexander can dish out some punishment herself. Born in Germany, she became a world champion in karate and kickboxing by the age of 19. This led to work as a stuntwoman while she studied filmmaking at UCLA. Her 2002 film about a down-and-out boxer,
Johnny Flyton, was nominated for a Best Short Film Oscar.
