What's The Story
Mr. Magorium's magical toy shop has been humming along just fine for years (no, seriously,
years - Mr. Magorium is 243 years old!). In fact, you could say that the store seems to have a life of its own. So when the eccentric toy store owner chooses to pass the business on to his young manager, the store is unwilling to go along with the plan. Complicating things more, a busybody accountant keeps trying to inject things like numbers and logic into a fantastic world where it seems anything can happen.
Three Good Reasons
- 1Dustin Hoffman has never been afraid to commit to a larger-than-life character, and Mr. Magorium is one of his biggest.
- 2Talents like Natalie Portman and Jason Bateman aren't generally found in G-rated kid's movies.
- 3Stranger Than Fiction screenwriter Zach Helm makes his feature directorial debut, once again grounding a high-concept story in real emotion.
Bet You Didn't Know
The highest-grossing G-rated film of all time is 2003's
Finding Nemo. The only G-rated film to win an Oscar for Best Picture was the musical
Oliver! in 1968. (2005's G-rated
March of the Penguins won for Best Documentary.)
