What's The Story
Author Margot Zeller uses her razor wit to write short stories. Unfortunately, she also uses it to alienate her family members. Long estranged from her free-spirited sister Pauline, Margot shows sudden interest when she learns of Pauline's imminent nuptials. When Margot grabs her young son and shows up unexpectedly, is it to be supportive? That's not how this family works --especially after she meets Pauline's fiancé Malcolm, an unemployed artist who becomes the new target of her disapproval. Can the wedding still happen after such a confluence of chaos?
Three Good Reasons
- 1Writer/director Noah Baumbach's follow-up to his Oscar-nominated The Squid and the Whale is filled with all the family dysfunction you'd expect.
- 2Like her critically-acclaimed roles in The Hours and To Die For, Nicole Kidman once again gets to play on her dark side.
- 3Jack Black and John Turturro appear in weightier roles than you usually see them in, but they still get moments to bring the funny.
Bet You Didn't Know
Jack Black played the title role in his high school production of Pippin, which featured "Yahoo! Answers on the Street" host J. Keith van Straaten in its ensemble.
