What's The Story
When old man Kowalski says, "get off my lawn," kids actually listen. Of course, this might have something to do with the M-1 rifle he's pointing at them. Walt Kowalski has never emotionally recovered from the Korean War, nor the racial prejudice that he took away from the brutal experience. So when a troubled Hmong teen attempts to steal his vintage Gran Torino, then insists upon doing penance for his misdeed, Kowalski finds himself drafted into a war of a different kind.
Three Good Reasons
- 1At age 78, producer/director/star Clint Eastwood is twice as prolific as most directors a third his age -- this is his second movie release in 3 months.
- 2It's a fascinating look at cultures clashing, with the grizzled war vet learning to accept the neighbors he initially distrusts.
- 3Eastwood's co-star, an immaculate 1972 Ford Gran Torino, truly a classic American muscle car.
Bet You Didn't Know
It's actually quite rare to see a Torino as cherry as Kowalski's today. Torinos are notorious for having corrosion problems, especially in places with severe winters. The most valuable body styles today are the limited edition "Starsky and Hutch" Torino models.
