What's The Story
Forget about werewolves and vampires, this is what grown-ups have actual nightmares about: being paralyzed and mute. But it gets worse. You're lying on an operating table about to be cut open and you can feel everything. But it gets worse still. It's not a dream; it's something that actually happens. Such is the bone-chilling fate for Clay, a man who puts his life in the hands of medical professionals, one of whom is his best friend. As Clay copes with the agony by having an out-of-body experience, he discovers that someone wants to make sure he never wakes up.
Three Good Reasons
- 1Writer/Director Joby Harold makes his directorial debut with a topic that is dark, compelling, and horrifying.
- 2"Anesthetic awareness" is an actual condition that occurs in about 0.1 to 0.2 percent of surgeries. Something to think about next time you're counting backwards from 10.
- 3Terrence Howard makes every movie more interesting. Jessica Alba makes every movie more pretty. Everybody wins.
Bet You Didn't Know
Need another reason to quit smoking? One cause of anesthetic awareness is a high drug tolerance in the patient. Long term exposure to nicotine and certain other drugs may increase the amount of anesthetics needed to fully produce unconsciousness.
