| The Punisher in the Comics |
| After his family is killed by gang-war crossfire, Frank Castle became a gun-toting force of vengeance. He begins as a hired assassin, only taking contracts on criminals he knows to be guilty. No secret fortress filled with gadgets for Frank-just a ratty apartment and enough firepower to occupy Paris. |
| Changes for the Screen |
| • |
The first screen translation from 1990 (starring Dolph Lundgren) took very little from the comic. The Punisher didn't even wear the signature skull logo. |
| • |
In the new version, Frank Castle (played by Thomas Jane) is an FBI agent whose family is killed in retaliation for a sting operation. |
| • |
His fight with The Russian is taken directly from the comic "Welcome Back, Frank," but the ending is different. |
