| Spider-Man in the Comics |
| Peter Parker is a nerdy high-school kid until he gets bitten by a freaky spider and suddenly gains superhuman abilities. After he misses the chance to prevent the murder of his Uncle Ben, Peter dedicates his life to helping the helpless of New York because "with great power comes great responsibility." He still has to make a living though, so he sells photos of his exploits to J. Jonah Jameson at The Daily Bugle. |
| Changes for the Screen |
| • |
The spider that bit Peter was genetically modified, not radioactive. |
| • |
His webs come out of his arms organically instead of out of mechanical webshooters. |
| • |
In the comics, he meets Mary Jane after college. It was girlfriend Gwen Stacy whom the Green Goblin drops off a bridge. |
