Terrence Malick’s NEXT Next Movie May Star Christian Bale

One of the upsides about writer-director Terrence Malick spending forever between movies is that it takes that long for the rest of us to wrap our heads around the last movie he made. But with "The Tree of Life" just a few months old, we know we have much more Malick in store soon: his romantic drama with Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams, and then his "Voyage of Time" birth-of-the-universe thingy. So how about one more project? Twitch is hearing that there's one in the works and that it'll star Christian Bale.

If this is true, it would be the second time Bale and Malick have worked together after "The New World." As for what the movie's about, well, let's ask Twitch's spies:

[T]his will be a much smaller cast than the [Affleck/McAdams] project Malick currently has in post, the story driven by a pair of dominant leads, one male and one female. Word is Malick is currently making a decision between a quartet of young actresses - Rooney Mara, Haley Bennet, Clemence Poesy and Mia Wasikowska - for the female lead.

That's not a lot to go on, but is par for the course for a Malick film. (Remember when people thought that "The Tree of Life" was going to have a lot to do with dinosaurs?) We're not expecting anyone from Malick's camp to confirm or deny this Bale business for a while. That's the way he is: He likes making us wait and wonder. What a tease. Oh well, we don't mind since we're still digesting some of the sequences from "Tree of Life" -- especially this one:

Yeah, seriously. Wow.
