March: Your Movie Month In Review

Your March winner. Paramount
Your March winner. Paramount

March brought us our first two $100 million grossers of the month: "Rango" and February's "Just Go With It," which gasped and wheezed past the mark. Of the top 10 grossing films of the month, only two have a Metacritic over 60: "Rango" and (surprise!) "The Lincoln Lawyer." We're starting to worry that the extent of our excitement over the next few months will be freaking "Thor." Anyway, it's time to do

our monthly look back (here's January) at the films of the past month, the ones we saw, the ones we loved, the ones we missed. Welcome to the wonkishness.

What We Learned This Month

Leitch:

"Limitless," a perfectly fun harmless B-grade thriller, is still among my top five movies of the year so far. It gets better, right?
Grierson:

Probably the most-talked about movie of March wasn't even in a theater: It was Todd Haynes' "Mildred Pierce" miniseries. I miss when movies generated that kind of water-cooler conversation.

We have such hope for April! See you then.
