June: Your Movie Month In Review

Obviously, this is the month/year/decade/timeline-of-human-activity of "Transformers: Dark of the Moon;" witness, it's the fifth-highest grossing movie of June, and it's been out for two days. Meanwhile, "Green Lantern''s stink will last long beyond this summer. Poor Ryan Reynolds: Dude finally gets his superhero franchise, and it's some lame dude with a ring. Anyway, it's time to do our monthly look back -- check the bottom of this post for the archive -- at the films of the past month, the ones we saw, the ones we loved, the ones we missed. Welcome to the wonkishness.

What We Learned This Month

Leitch: Be not confused by the choice of "Cars 2" as the month's best movie: This was not a good movie month. "Cars 2" was the only film I gave a "B+" or better to in June. I'm 93 percent certain I'm not just being a crank.
Grierson: Buck Brannaman is a gentle yet imposing figure in the documentary about him, "Buck." He's even more that way in person: I was lucky enough to moderate a couple Q&As with him during the movie's opening weekend. He's a genuinely decent man. They are so rare.

We have such hope for July! See you then.
