“Dogtooth” Director’s Next Film “Alps” Even Crazier, Creepier, Of Course

We are crazy about "Dogtooth" -- No. 2 on our top 10 of 2011, just behind its spiritual sister "Toy Story 3" -- and are still pretty amazed that it was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. (It's about institutionalized incest, by the way, and also features a cat being killed with a hammer.) But director Yorgos Lanthimos' next film, "Alps," sounds even more nutzo.

Titled "Alps," it centers on a group of people who agree to stand in for others' lost loved ones, replicating their behavior and gestures to help with the mourners' grieving. (Think pet owners who stuff their animals, only with people.) "It's darker and funnier. It goes to each extreme a little bit more," Lanthimos said. Aggeliki Papoulia, who plays one of the daughters in "Dogtooth," also stars in the new film.

So yeah, Here's the trailer. Greeks are awesome. Can Lanthimos make "Toy Story 4?"
