Beyonce’s Pregnant, So ‘A Star Is Born’ Is Getting Pushed Back

We caught about five minutes of last night's MTV Video Music Awards -- that's probably the most we've watched of those since Sam Kinison complained that the channel should play more music videos and that was in 1988 -- but probably the biggest news had nothing to do with who snagged the most Moonmen. Nope, the big winner was Beyonce, who stole the show before the broadcast by announcing her pregnancy. Congrats to her and Jay-Z, but now for the real question: How does this affect her remake of "A Star Is Born"?

Thankfully, Nikke Finke talked to someone over at Warner Bros., who told her that, yeah, they're probably going to have to push back that planned February 2012 start date for the film. Then again, that would hardly be the worst thing to happen since the studio still hasn't figured out who's going to be her Fredric March/James Mason/Kris Kristofferson. Everybody from Will Smith to Leonardo DiCaprio has been rumored to play the self-destructive mentor to Beyonce's aspiring starlet, but now there's a chance it could be Christian Bale, which we're hoping he'll pass on.

If Finke's sources are accurate, what's definitely not going to be happening is Warner Bros. deciding not to make the movie without Beyonce. And it also appears Clint Eastwood will stay on as director. (He's also producing the movie, which, yes, is going to be a musical.) But the best part of Finke's report is her own suggestion of who should play opposite Beyonce: Jay-Z, because "he's a good actor." Listen, we think Jay's the best rapper alive, but is he much of an actor? Beyond music videos, his biggest (and only) acting credit seems to be the 2002 film "State Property," and even that's apparently just a glorified cameo. However, we do want to thank this movie for giving us our new favorite catch phrase: Put your 3D glasses on, 'cuz we're coming straight at you!
