$50,000 dresses and they want us to donate to third world countries who think this country is whack. It's pathetic that we are!

Woe to the world if the new, 'Hollywood model of America', comes to pass. Me? I was more than satisfied with the old one....you know... the one before America became considerably more brown. Reluctant to be the unpaid policeman of the world, America nevertheless, by 1945, had convinced me that it would secure my life, my nation and the future of democracy, keeping the reality of evil very distant. Of course, I realize, (and I refer to the 'brown' bit above), that the model of America was founded on the adventures of 'very big' British men with magnificent ideas, (and in very, very small ships), that struck out to spread their wonders widely. And in America,Canada, Australia, New Zealand among others they struck paydirt early on as these became the nations that were the springboards of America's interpretation of liberty and democracy........(qualities which seems to have become somewhat cancerous to Hollywood's celebrities, as Sean Penn and Oliver Stone,et al, will admit). For me, however, had an earlier Hollywood not recorded this history so often, (before Hollywood became so radically more intelligent in the embrace of 'right think'), I would right today recommend the subject as a hell of a treasure house of great film scripts. "Down with Oscar" I say!

Its nothing but bullshit they need to give the money to the poor instead of themselves greeding baster.......

It's spring and yet another chance for the Academy to prance and preen while convincing itself, if few others, of it's bona fides and celebrity in a films arena that went into steep decline some decades ago. I've tried to think of something nice to attach to this annual trial but, in essence, (being cognisant of a far better Hollywood that was, way back), the most fitting wish that I can muster is that Hollywood, as socialially destructive as it is today should go the way of the San Francisco bath houses, (which, in their way, were equally destructive). Will Sean P be there tonight? I venture....no...too busy at the bedside, in Cuba, of his pal and civil model Hugo C. And what about that excellent exemplar, Alex Baldwin, or Danny Glover and Oliver Stone....will they be there, front and centre, sharing their so well crafted insights into where America goes wrong. Well, in my view, what is wrong came about precisely because of the type of mental hogwash that infests the veins of today's American film industry and which also flows in lockstep through the nation's arteries of basic and higher education. Anyway, that's enough for now....I shall busy myself preparing a few 'properly nasty things to write', later. when my bile is really enriched by clicking in to see the contortions of the exaggerated, and aggravatingly gay, fawning and chortlings of the TV presenters buzzing near the red carpet. What's is wrong with America...indeed? Well....all of the above!
Please...just bring back that old America that I grew up with in England and in Canada.

Hard to believe, all the glamorous expensive gowns and expensive jewelry are worn by Democrats that are all for the middle class. But then again, who else but the middle class can keep them in that glamorous expensive lifestyle, not to mention the fairy tale land they live in.

Most of the gowns are borrowed -- notice they aren't hemmed ?

I do love movies, but I think all this money on the all the Awards shows could and should be spent on people who can't help themselves. Think people think!!!!! Sue S. Louisville, KY.

she just got to win!!! we need some minority winners to make it fair. No chineese? No hispanics? No polish actors? I guess we will give the trophy to the blacks this year.

even if we did.. how is this going to affect how they dress or run the Oscars in the future? seriously I'd rather watch a rerun of something else because other channels are afraid of competition or have quality time with the family.
If you want to know who wore what or won what...wait for the news they announce winners anyhow...what a waste of time!!
