Brad Pitt’s Secret to Waking Up the Kids

Photo: Steve Granitz/WireimageEvery parent has his or her tricks -- things that must be done to keep the house running. Brad Pitt is no different. In a recent interview with CBS This Morning, the Oscar-nominated actor ("Moneyball") revealed that he sometimes has to rely on a certain carbonated beverage to get his kids moving in the morning.

"Listen, I admit there's times like, 'We gotta get up. Get up! Here's your shoes. Here's your shoes. Drink this Coke. Drink this Coca-Cola. Drink it all. Right now! Drink it! Drink it! Drink it!' Just so we could get 'em up and going," Pitt confessed.

Pitt was speaking about his chaotic life with six children. The kids, three biological with Angelina Jolie and three adopted from overseas, travel with their mom and dad everywhere. Pitt says that as the kids get older, they're becoming more aware that their parents aren't married.

"We're getting a lot of pressure from the kids," Pitt says. "It [marriage] means something to them. And they have questions when their friends parents are married and why is that." Pitt has gone on record as saying that he and Jolie don't plan to marry until all couples can do so legally. Whether the kids will push the couple toward the altar (like Shrek and Princess Fiona) remains to be seen.

Give them each a bottle of 5 hr energy and a large bag of M&Ms that should last them all day.

In other news, this Yahoo! memeber drank a Pepsi today.

Let a mother in the hood give her kid coke for breakfast and CPS would have been over there busting her door down.

yeah, but that's not so much about the coke. It's more about the whiskey in the coke, and the hotboxed house the children are sleeping in........ but then again, how do you teach a stupid darkie to be a good parent?

Hey Aleandra I agree these people need to chill out. The Pitt/Jolie family are great & alot of people hate them for their own insecurites or do not seem to care about all the good they do.

and by the way dude...Coke..I do drink once or twice a year. But it is best for cleaning battery terminals. Don't give it to children. Don't even pour it in your whiskey..maybe your rum.maybe...never in your Jack...possibly a splash in your Turkey but no..never in your children in the morning or any other time. Occasionally if you buy a once in a while happy meal. (also to be avoided)

Maybe you should lay off the meth and have a cup of coffee.

Love it. Coffee that is..maybe you should say something of merit like an alternate opinion rather than tell others what to do. My opinion is that marriage is a man to a woman. Simple straight up. And I added that with few exceptions most of these male gays are turning regular tricks. Not universal. I have one friend who apparently is not...all the others ones are..even the pillars of their community. Go to a male to male personal brah..read them. Sorry you feel that normal. Again straight up. I don't.

My kids wake me up most of the time. I hardly ever give them soda or junk food. Just juice and milk. I must be doing something right since they are very active and healthy. Brad's kids are gonna miss their Coke since schools don't offer sodas in their vending machines anymore. Oh wait, they're gonna be home schooled.

That's a shame. That means they aren't gettting enough sleep. I joke with my 8 year old that I'm going to have to give him Pepsi (likes that over Coke). He said, "Really!! But then, HAHA-NO!

Gee, I have seven kids and I wake them up by asking them to get out of bed.

I'm not some kind of uppity-better-than-you-mom, but coke? I don't know. I just use the, "It's time to get up. Don't talk back, up now." It works.

Pitt is helping others by building homes & making them energy efficient. Actually spending his time & money helping!!!!! I wish I had Pitt & Jolie for parents.
He said sometimes give them a coke, not everyday. I am from the getto & I have seen MOST parents...they are bad! Y'all need to look at the good things Pitt & Jolie do. What have you done for others lately? And if you have do you help everyday? Do you go to danerous places to help like Pitt & Jolie. I know y'all don't. That is why the world is in the state it is in because of haters like y'all.I will bet y'all did not even finish reading my post.

Why is Brad giving his children soda to wake up?! HE should have woken up earlier and gotten them ready and make a healthy breakfast. End of story!
    • Jen-IL  •  Chicago, Illinois  •  3 months ago
He said "there are times" he does this. Not something I'd choose to do, but posters are reacting like he said it's a daily ritual to wake the kids.

To post CPS should get involved is ridiculous. Sending CPS after someone giving their child an occasional Coke, while a truly abused child awaits rescuing, is what would be disgusting..

He gives his kids soda for breakfast? What a loser. If any other parent on earth did this, it wouldn't be "amusing".... it would be considered terrible parenting. Brad---if your kid drank the soda to wake up, then he must have already been awake. You're a fool.
    • Guitarist  •  3 months ago
Bah come on... My parents would just tickle me until I would get up. It's more effective and you wake up happy. Soda in the morning? Yuck.
