Oscar should go to Gary Oldman, he can act rings around Clooney and Pitt, they really aren't that good. Why no Alan Rickman for best supporting actor for his 10 years of Snape??
      • Old Broad 3 months ago
Alan Rickman is so under rated! Great actor at whatever he does.
      • Tracked by Republi-bots 3 months ago
That why I checked this list in the first place: to see if Rickman got nominated for DHp2, but nope. Unfortunate. :-(

Yeah really, where the hell is Harry Potter part 2 period???? Extremely Loud got #$%$ ass reviews, it doesn't deserve to be there, the Oscar committee is a joke now. They look more like Grammys now...

Where are the rest of the nominations?
      • Don S 3 months ago
I know, right?!?!? They did say a complete list.

america doesn't care about the other nominations, so, they just leave 'em out. think of this story sort of like USA TODAY compared to the NY TIMES. at Y AHOO "we only give you the headlines of the news"

Nobody cares except the employees in the film biz.

the nominees are! george clooney! for being George Clooney,
brad pitt, for being brad pitt in a movie!
but we sure need them in attendance so we can sell the commercial time slots!

I wish I had said that!!!

there is nothing more i hate than so called actors who act the same in every #$%$ movie their in of which george clooney is the poster boy. i just don't get why folks think he is a great actor, it must boil down to his looks.

I also get tired of the Clooney/Pitt insiders' buddy buddy schtick. I can't be alone on this!

Should be a special award for the Harry Potter series, much like they did for the Lord of the Rings. You may not like the genre, but you have to admit, they have been great filmmaking, special effects, makeup, costuming, etc. and the last two movies were really good when compared to the books.

NO WAY, the Harry Potter films are AWFUL. The first 2 were good, but as the actors got older they no longer even resembled the characters. Plus the directors changed after the second film so it went downhill from there. YOU CANNOT COMPARE IT WITH THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY. Peter Jackson is awesome, NOTHING like the directors of Harry Potter. But I do love all 7 books of Harry Potter. I hope someday somebody SMART will direct a remake of the series, maybe a TV series so it can be more detailed and have better actors who fit the roles.

        yeah canada, sure thing! Silly.

Not let's not go too far and attack the books... they were all fantastic. Readership world wide has the numbers to proove that. Chatham-Kent take off your trekkies suit and come back to planet earth. You need to put down some of that cheep medical mary jane you all get up there in the Great North Ey? LOTR is great but no where near the story behind Harry Potter. And the movie are compelling from Playful to Dark. Its my opinion but, I think you'd get hazed even by your fellow LOTR backers on this one.

There are too many awards shows.

but this is the awards show.

i agree, but if you have to take one away, don't take away the Oscars.... it is THE awards show. take away a stupid one like the golden globes or something like that.

Alan Rickman deserves an award for his portrayal of Severus Snape.

What's Hollywood's beef with Leonardo Dicaprio, their most talented actor. Who did he #$%$ off?

Disappointing list of movies, maybe that's why they are losing money, not piracy, no?
    • C  •  Winnipeg, Canada  •  3 months ago
Nick Nolte FTW!! Warrior was really well done, it's a shame more people didn't see it. All the performances were great.

If Meryl Streep doesn't win Best Actress something is terribly wrong. "Midnight in Paris" sucked. It was a good movie, but why is everyone going all (lady) gaga over the "The Descendants" is beyond me. It wasn't anywhere near as good as "Sideways". Clooney is overrated.
    • gino  •  San Diego, California  •  3 months ago
its not even worth it to watch the academy this year, the list of nominees are not worth deserving except for meryl streep.

Funny how the movie goers and movie makers have such different ideas about what defines “best”. None of these movies are in the top ten for viewers. At the box office The Help was the highest at 13th.

Oh, and Meryl Streep is a phenominal actress !

Movie Stars are like NFL players, Over rated & OVERPAID!
    • Dan  •  Peoria, Illinois  •  3 months ago
Thomas Horn (the kid in "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close) SHOULD have gotten an Oscar nomination. He was fantastic in that movie. What a performance, in his first screen role.
    • DougD  •  Englewood, Colorado  •  3 months ago
Michael Parks should have been nominated for "Red State."

I'm also getting tired of these overly padded "Best Picture" lists. Keep it below six, guys. Dropping overly pretentious crap like "Tree of Life" would be a good start.
    • J.  •  Elgin, Illinois  •  3 months ago
"Tree of Life" best picture?? What a joke. Biggest piece of crap movie I've ever seen. If I ever meet Brad Pitt I'm asking for my money back for renting that steaming pile.
