It was a big day in Hollywood on Sunday with the reopening of the historic Chinese Theatre after a major overhaul and the release of the digitally remastered “The Wizard of Oz 3D.” The premiere for the film was originally at the then Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in 1939, which is also where Judy Garland’s footprints are still displayed. One of the highlights of the day was the arrival of Ruth Duccini, one of only two remaining munchkins from the film. She helped with the ribbon cutting alongside the iconic characters the tin man, the cowardly lion and the scarecrow. It was a magical day for fans of old Hollywood and film lovers young and old.
“The Wizard of Oz: An IMAX 3D Experience” will open on September 20th and will play in 400 IMAX theaters nationwide. The 75th anniversary Blu-Ray hits shelves October 1st. This is an experience not to be missed.
