Slasher Showdown: Day 5 – The Winner

Well the day has come to pick our winner. We've had a really fun time running through all of the evidence against each killer contestant as well as reading through all of the side debates from all of you. But despite how awesome all three may be, we've set out to choose the best one.

So without further ado, the winner of this year's Slasher Showdown is none other than your friendly Elm Street neighbor -- Freddy Krueger. It was never a clear win for him, but after 4 days of running through the various accomplishments of each of our slashers, we felt that Freddy was most deserving of the gold. Don't fret Jason fans, we've chosen the masked horror icon as our runner up. Check out the recap of this week's showdown and make sure to let us know who you would have chosen.

DAY 1 - BODY COUNT

It was on Day 1 that Jason won by a landslide for his body count victory while Freddy actually never even stood a chance. But thousands of you took to the polls to argue that while Freddy may not have had the most kills, he certainly had the best and most imaginative ones.

DAY 2 - BOX OFFICE

Next we decided to look at box office grosses where once again Jason came out on top. But again we looked between the lines to find that it was obvious for Jason to win since he had the most movies under his belt. It was actually Freddy, however, who had the highest "per-film" average.

DAY 3 - RATINGS

On Day 3, we looked at the ratings for each of the movies our slashers had starred in. It seems that Yahoo! users had their favorites among all the movies, but there didn't seem to be a clear winner on this day which is the very reason we decided to hold the Slasher Showdown. On the other hand, critics had generally rated Freddy's movies as their favorite.

DAY 4 - FUN FACTS

On the final day, we stepped away from the hard facts to look at some of the more fun and interesting qualitative aspects that make up the iconic slashers. From weapon of choice to favorite quote, we were reminded of what it is that makes all three of these slashers so great.
