New ‘Skyfall’ trailer alludes to James Bond trauma

The new trailer for the Sam Mendes-directed "Skyfall" reveals James Bond engaging in wordplay.

The opening sequence initially appears to be an interrogation of Bond (Daniel Craig), but we're thinking it's actually a psychological evaluation. The fact that M (Judi Dench) and new character Gareth Mallory (Ralph Fiennes) -- whose ultimate allegiance seems questionable -- are looking on while Bond receives a barrage of keywords seems telling.

Does Bond suffer a mental breakdown that leads to this mysterious back-and-forth? It's not totally clear, but we do notice Bond is the only one in this sequence not wearing a suit -- which is completely out of character. In fact, he appears to be some sort of government-issued onesie.

Here is the revealing-yet-cryptic word association "game" depicted in the new peek into the film (in theaters November 9):

Mysterious official: "Country."
Bond: "England."
Mysterious official: "Gun."
Bond: "Shot."
Mysterious official: "Agent."
Bond: "Provocateur." (As in the fancy lingerie line?)
Mysterious official:"Murder."
Bond: "Employment."
Mysterious official: "Skyfall."
Bond: "Done."

As Bond recalls a past horror before saying "done," Skyfall appears to be revealed as a mission from his past that really haunted him -- so yeah, it's gotta be bad since Bond has sort of seen it all.

There's a shadowy figure walking near a building engulfed in flames. Is that villain Silva (Javier Bardem)? We're thinking it is.

By the way, you may not realize who the the girl shaving Bond is: Eve is played by Naomie Harris, who was the voodoo priestess with the weird teeth, Tia Dalma, in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequels.
