Remember when Sandra Bullock locked lips with Meryl Streep at the 2010 Critics Choice Movie Awards? Well apparently the smooch was part of a running prank between the two Oscar winners.
You see, Bullock had just won her first Academy Award. But, as British talk show host Graham Norton recently pointed out on his show, she didn't just win — she beat three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep. That's like "a double win" according to Norton, who spoke with Bullock about the torrid smooch between the two actresses.
"The backstory," said Bullock, "[was] she was egging me on this entire time, like, she's heckling."
Bullock recalled being excited when she got news that Streep had sent her flowers, presumably after her big Oscar win for Best Actress for her role in 2009's "The Blind Side." "And up comes this nice bottom part [motions in the shape of a flower pot] with, like, three dead orchids on it," the 48-year-old star of "The Heat" said.
The note on the flowers, Bullock recalled, said, "Die b----. Love, Meryl."
After that, Bullock said she fought back. "It was no holds barred. I had to take Meryl down."
So what better way to "humiliate her" — Bullock's words — than with a kiss on television, for the whole world to see, Bullock said. "Kill her with my kisses."
See Norton and Bullock discuss the kiss at 5:02 of the video below. Warning, some foul language precedes the conversation:
