Princess Buttercup, Westley, and others from fan favorite "The Princess Bride" reunited at the New York Film Festival for the movie's 25th anniversary last night. To celebrate, a special edition of the film has just been released on Blu-ray -- as we wished!
Robin Wright, 46, who played Buttercup in the movie, looked royally radiant in her new pixie cut and plaid strapless peplum dress. Carey Elwes, 49, who played the princess's true love, Westley, stood by her side.

Surprisingly, the Rob Reiner-directed kooky comedy/romance/adventure wasn't a hit when it came out, but it has become a cult classic. "It's a beautifully done, enduring love story," Billy Crystal told the Associated Press. He noted that other iconic movies, including "The Wizard of Oz" and "It's a Wonderful Life," weren't box office smashes but gained popularity over time.
The plot, for those not already familiar with it, is based on the fairy tale by William Goldman. It revolves around Buttercup and Westley, who leaves to seek his fortune but reportedly dies at sea. Time passes, and after reluctantly agreeing to marry Prince Humperdinck (played by Chris Sarandon), Buttercup is kidnapped. In an attempt to rescue her, Westley, who has by now returned, must overcome challenges like a fire swamp, giant rodents, and being "mostly dead."

Along with director Rob Reiner were were Mandy Patinkin (who played sword-fighting Spaniard Inigo Montoya), Wallace Shawn (criminal mastermind Vizzini), Billy Crystal (Miracle Max), and Carol Kane (Max's wife Valerie). Cast members Peter Falk (the grandfather/narrator) and Andre the Giant (sweet rock-throwing Fezzik) had passed away in the intervening years.
A few years ago, Wright told USA Today, "I love those movies, and they're going to go down in history. They're iconic. And I love that I'm a part of film history."
