Photo: Eamonn McCormack/WireImageMeryl Streep is a world-class actress, and that was on full display Sunday at the BAFTAs -- the British version of the Oscars. But getting to the stage to collect her best-actress award for "The Iron Lady" proved to be a misstep, literally.
As she strode to the stage, the 62-year-old lost her shoe. Luckily, Colin Firth, who presented the category, was onstage and at the ready to rescue the star.
The white knight rushed in, picked up the wayward pump, and presented it to the actress. The Oscar winners then embraced, and Streep said, "Thank you so much! That couldn't have gone worse!"
