    Macaulay Culkin’s Life Today

Photo by David Livingston/Getty ImagesWhat has happened to the adorable child actor from "Home Alone"? Fans were shocked (picture hands on face and mouths wide open) to see a gaunt, scruffy-looking Macaulay Culkin in a photo snapped on the streets of New York recently.

Many of the well over 4,000 comments on the Yahoo! story showed concern for the star's health: One wrote, "Dude needs a hug & a cheeseburger." Others wondered if the look was for a role. One even joked that the former child star looked like he was about to play "Homeless Alone."

    See the photo here >>

Culkin shot to fame as an 8-year-old scene stealer in the "Home Alone" movies. At the height of his stardom, the child actor was considered the most successful young star since Shirley Temple.

In fact, the movie is a perennial hit with fans on the Web. Yahoo! lookups for "Home Alone" shot up over the holidays, along with sentimental searches on "macaulay culkin biography," "macaulay culkin news," and "macaulay culkin movies."

As an adult, Culkin hasn't seen his career take off. The actor appeared in movies like "Richie Rich" and then moved into TV appearances on shows like "Will and Grace"; Culkin is also a voice on the Seth Green show "Robot Chicken."

Culkin's last big-screen effort was the well-received 2004 indie comedy "Saved," with Mandy Moore. The star also won praise for his role as a murderous club kid in 2003's "Party Monster." He is rumored to be in the British military action comedy "Service Man," which comes out in 2013.

With his having experienced so much success as a kid, perhaps a bumpy transition is no surprise (See: Lindsay Lohan). The actor grabbed headlines in the past for his childhood friendship with the late Michael Jackson, whom he defended during the singer's trial. Culkin had slept over at the pop icon's home many times, and he called charges against the megastar "absolutely ridiculous."

As a kid, Culkin successfully "divorced" his parents, whom he accused of mismanaging his funds, assigning instead a family accountant to take charge of his fortune until he turned 18. In 1998, he married fellow child star Rachel Miner. The two divorced four years later. In 2004, Culkin was arrested for marijuana possession and for possessing pills for which he had no prescription. He was given a one-year deferred substance sentence on each charge and ordered to pay $540.

A rep for the star assured Entertainment Tonight: "Macaulay Culkin is in perfectly good health." So perhaps the look is to mourn his latest lost love: Last year, the 31-year-old broke off a longtime romance with A-lister Mila Kunis after a reported eight-year relationship. A publicist for the actress released a statement saying, "The split was amicable, and they remain close friends."

Fans will be watching for the New Yorker's next move -- and movie.

he looks absolutely normal to me ? he's probably going to be thin all his life and he's also pale , nothing out of the ordinary either case - my goodness if a little marijuana is the worst thing we can say about him compared to the rest of Hollywood he's doing GREAT !

You must be looking at the wrong picture. Click on the link that says "see photo here."

Marijuana gives you the munchies so wouldn't make you skinny and gaunt. More like cocaine or meth. These ARE scary!

Pale skin shows the blood vessels under the eyes...and he's a blonde with very pale skin. He's fine....

Apparently he wants to keep his private life private, imagine that?

Oh, come on. The guy was caught at a bad angle. Sure he could use a shave, and probably a little more sleep. To say he's a drug addict without being in his life as a family member, or close friend is ridiculous. I'm sure we've all used *some* kind of drug whether you smoke it, are prescribed it, or even snort it. No one is perfect. Get off his nuts.

You sure he has nuts? To say he has nuts without being in his life as a family member, or close friend is ridiculous.

lmao Rebecca. You just made my day. xD

He has always had the very pale, sleepy eyes, gaunt look. He doesn't look any different than he always does. I think Photogs get a picture of a celebrity and have to make up a "compelling" story to go with it just so they can get their photo looked at.

He Got Pretty Hurt By His Own Parents.n That's Enough To Get Anybody Down. He's An Adult Now n I Think He's Gonna Do Alright. He's A Great Actor. Very Talented Indeed...He's Gonna Make A Comeback Like Robert Downey Jr.Did. You'll See. :)

No mention of his sister dying in a tragic traffic accident. Nice.

Have some compassion for his lost!!!!!
      • T.M.Standard 3 months ago
I think that was Cynthia's point. They say his gaunt look could be due to depression over his split with Mila.
      • T.M.Standard 3 months ago
Not to mention...the loss of his sister.

Its sad when an actor at the age of 31 is remember for a movie he made at the age of 8.
      • B 3 months ago
It's sad that his "sad" accomplishment is still 100x bigger than anything you've accomplished...lol
      • Molly Wee Brain 3 months ago
It's SAD that the people who are fixated with him as an 8 year old are not yet in prison. LOL.

At least Dr. Murray took care of Michael "Jesus Juice" Jackson for us.

Some people are naturally very thin and still healthy. As said..he was just strolling down the road with a beverage in his hand. He might look gaunt..but some people just look that way. Some actors have pictures taken of them without posing and then the pictures are sold to the public to claim they are drunk (eyes are half opened), sick (no makeup on) etc.

Let me get this straight. The guy could stand to put on some weight, and perhaps shave and brush his hair. OMG HE'S A DRUG ADDICT!!!!!

Maybe...just maybe he'd be fine if society would "TRY" really hard to remember that he puts his pants on, one leg at a time- just like the rest of us. He's human. Hello-? Good Days,Bad Days & #$%$ happens. It's stupid "Time Wasting" people like you that remind me that all the media does is write about murderers & mindless crap.(& crooked, lying, stealing, cheating, horny politicians that lack the morals that our country USED to be built upon) Macauley, Hold your head up or down, depending on your mood. Never forget acting is a job just like any other, except you get put on a pedestal so that later, people will have more fun dragging you through the mud. The higher the fall, the happier the people. (the more they dislike themselves, the bigger the high) The world will always be full of morons without a life. Don't worry- I'll remind my kids not to leave the computer on & I'll try not to read the headlines if they do. Goodluck M.C.! , Cynical

Let's be honest. Every photo of Macaulay Culkin since the age of thirteen has been disturbing.

I think he's looking quite aware and living life day by day, and hope that he can find happiness each day in some peaceful solitude....very talented young man...=)

Check out his scene stealing ability - pre Home Alone in "Uncle Buck" Leave the guy alone. I can take a crap-tastic picture of anybody in an awkward pose making them look bad. Political attack ads do this all the time.

"dude needs a cheeseburger" OMG! HAVEN'T HEARD THAT ONE 4,000,0000 TIMES ALREADY!

Uncreative douches who think they are funny, running rampant on the internet!

Meet sexy women and rich men.
So for all the under educated or, under achievers out there. Put it in this context, He conducted 2 open heart procedures back to back??????? Well a Dr. has a job to do that, Yet noone hates on him! Its that mans job to catch footballs, so if he catches two back to back, why hate him for that and act like it is not news? Hell even if my server at Ruby Tuesday gives me 2 drinks back to back i praise her/him but we as a nation decide we can judge pro athletes, aka hate but we never lived their lives, and we really have no place to decide what is news, and or who writes it!!!!!!!!!!!59502181453

Unfortunately, he grew up to be not as cute as he was as a kid, so he's unlikely to be a huge star, though he likely still can act. I hope he's adjusting ok.

Chad...says the person who can't spell correctly or use proper punctuation. I've seen what a break-up can do to someone physically and emotionally. I haven't seen such a long term relationship ending but I'm pretty sure it can take a really big toll on someone. I, obviously, cannot say whether or not he is into drugs, or even using them to cope with life, but I wish the best for him and hope that his life gets better.
