Ashton Kutcher (Open Road Films)
The first clip from Ashton Kutcher's “jOBS” has debuted, featuring a very Ashton Kutcher-like Steve Jobs attempting to persuade Steve Wozniak (Josh Gad) that the operating system Wozniak has developed will become the institution it is today.
Wozniak, though remains skeptical, insisting, “No one wants to buy a computer.” Kutcher/Jobs' reply to this is the soon-to-be-legendary “How does somebody know what they want if they've never even seen it?” This line delivered with all the Kutcherian majesty one could have possibly desired.
Steve Wozniak told Gizmodo that not only did this scene never happen in real life. In fact, their views on the democratizing potential of Wozniak's operating system were exactly the other way around. Woz got it. Jobs was slower on the up take. But then, that makes for a less interesting movie.
The biography of Apple co-founder Jobs, who died in 2011, will be released this April to coincide with the 37th anniversary of the founding of Apple. “jOBS,” written by Matthew Whitely and directed by Joshua Michael Stern, covers the major events in Jobs' life from the years 1971 onward.
The cast, headlined by Ashton Kutcher as Jobs, also includes Gad, Dermot Mulroney, Lukas Haas, and J.K. Simmons. "jOBS" will be released on April 19.
