Michael Bay has released pictures of the new, updated Optimus Prime, the leading big rig in the "Transformers" series, as the vehicle will appear in truck form in the upcoming "Transformers 4." The new machine looks sleeker and more upscale than before, a vehicle any trucker would be proud to take out on the highway.

Manufactured by Western Star, a division of Daimler Trucks North America, the new Optimus Prime has the traditional dark blue paint job with stylish red flames highlighted by pinstripes, as well as gleaming exhaust stacks that curl up to the sky at an angle from behind the cab, instead of the more functional straight pipes used in the past.

Optimus has a more streamlined look this

  • The Hangover III(Photo: Warner Bros.) The third and final installment in "The Hangover" series is taking a lot of hits for being uninspired, lazy and — perhaps worst of all — unfunny. It's like the bitter disappointment of "The Hangover Part II," which many criticized for being a mere do-over of the first film in a different location. And apparently it put everyone in the mindset that "Part III" wasn't going to be any good, either. But there's a lot to like about director Todd Phillips' strange, sad and often rousing action thriller disguised as a raucous bro comedy — at least seven things, to be exact.

  • Hugh Jackman as WolverineHugh Jackman has to work really hard for those Wolverine abs (Photo: 20th Century Fox)Never doubt Hugh Jackman's commitment to his work – if he has to force down a lot of bland food in order to be Wolverine, then that's what he's going to do!

Jackman has now revealed just how hard it is to prepare himself to play the blade-knuckled mutant in the "X-Men" franchise. Not only did Jackman go through a punishing workout routine to get himself in shape for his character's upcoming solo effort, "The Wolverine," he had to pile on the calories, which isn’t as much fun as it sounds.

"You actually have to eat a LOT, and I'm quite a skinny person," Jackman said in an interview with Sirius XM satellite radio. "So I'm eating ridiculous amounts of food. I quite like everything I ate, but it’s more bland. Chicken breasts, but steamed, no salt. And steamed spinach."

According to Jackman, timing is everything when he's pouring on those calories. "When you're bulking, you're just eating so much food," Jackman said. "What I do is I eat in an eight hour period, it's all the rage this diet now. It's called the 16-8 diet. For sixteen hours of the day, I fast, so I don't eat. Between ten in the morning and six o'clock at night … I eat 5,000 calories. And then I eat nothing … it's more about, 'This is a disgusting amount of food, I can't eat another bite.' I

You can picture Peter Dinklage as the creator of giant rampaging mutant-stomping robots, can't you?

Bryan Singer continues to tweet pics from the set of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" like there's no tomorrow, and his latest sneak peek more or less reveals just who the "Game of Thrones" star is playing in next summer's superhero sequel.

  • Daniel CraigDaniel Craig, seen here on the set of 'Skyfall,' has sway over the director choice this time (Columbia Pictures)Right when the blogosophere began spreading the news that Nicolas Winding Refn seemed to divulge he's in contention to helm the next Bond movie, a report surfaced saying Sam Mendes is back in the game.

Mendes, who directed "Skyfall" and said he was done with the franchise, is in talks to take on the next Bond film, according to Deadline.

Refn, the director of "Drive," seemed coy on the topic at Cannes when asked whether he was attached to the epic spy series -- leading some to speculate whether he is in contention.

One of Hollywood's favorite guessing games in recent months has been "Who's directing the next James Bond movie?" Other names that have been thrown around include Ang Lee and Christopher Nolan.

Helming a Bond picture has always been a prestige assignment, and Eon

  • Paul Walker Paul Walker defies physics in 'Fast & Furious 6' (Photo: Universal)With the blazing success of "Fast & Furious 6" this weekend, many of you are writing in to ask about the plausibility of, well, anything that happens in that movie.

Is it physically possible for Vin Diesel and his wheels of justice to go up against tanks and airplanes -- and win?

I found out for you, with the help of an expert: Marty Gordon, a professor of mechanical engineering technology at the Rochester Institute of Technology and a board-certified forensic engineer specializing in accident reconstruction.

He and I went through the most memorable scenes in the movie. The result: this Burning Q&A.

Can a car -- any car -- really drive through the nose of a plane?

Make that an engine of a cargo plane. And the answer is no.

"There is just too much metal for him to get through," Gordon tells me of the scene in which Diesel's car bursts through a hunk of flying machine. "If he did get through, he would have come through in chunks. That's like driving through a giant torch. The paint would have

  • Mark Ruffalo in 'Marvel's The Avengers' & Edward Norton in Universal's 'The Incredible Hulk'. Photo courtesy of Everett.

The man who is now the Hulk was almost the Hulk a lot earlier.

Four years earlier, in fact, since Mark Ruffalo was director Louis Leterrier's first choice to play Bruce Banner in "The Incredible Hulk" (2008), the stand-alone adventure of Marvel's green giant, which preces his appearance in Joss Whedon's superhero mashup, "Marvel's The Avengers" (2012).

The role went to Edward Norton in that film, though the "Fight Club" star was apparently the frontrunner for Marvel execs and not the young director, as Leterrier explained in a recent interview with Huffington Post upon the release of his new film, "Now You See Me."

"When people are asking me, because Mark Ruffalo is in this one ['Now You See Me'], who's the better of the Bruce Banners -- both are great; both are fantastic -- but I actually wanted to cast Mark Ruffalo as Hulk," said Leterrier. "And Marvel was like 'No, you should get Edward Norton because he's more famous.'"

  • 'Avengers' and 'X-Men' are playing nice when it comes to sharing Quicksilver'Avengers' and 'X-Men' are playing nice when it comes to sharing Quicksilver (Photo: Marvel/20th Century Fox, inset Marvel)
It looks like Fox and Disney are just going to find a way to share their new favorite action figure — Quicksilver. And you'll just have to get used to seeing him (played by two different actors) over and over again.

A tremor shook the comic book world last week when Bryan Singer confirmed via Twitter that he cast Evan Peters (one of the best things about "American Horror Story") in the role of Quicksilver in "X-Men: Days of Future Past." It wasn't the casting choice that caused all sorts of murmurings but the fact that the appearance of the character in a Fox movie seemed to contradict Joss Whedon's plans to use that same character in the next "Avengers" outing, which is run by Marvel/Disney.

However, it looks like plans are going forward for Quicksilver to appear in both films. Joss confirmed that the high-speed character — and his sister, Scarlet Witch — are still a planned part of "The Avengers 2."

"There are new characters ... we're going to have a brother-sister team, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, who were great mainstays in 'The Avengers' when I was reading the comics," said Whedon on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this week.

When Fallon asked if Whedon had cast the roles yet, he replied with "Not yet ... we're doing that now."

    So that at least more

  • MICHAEL SHANNON as General Zod in Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' action adventure

There's not much point in being a superhero if you don’t have a super villain to fight, and in a new "Man of Steel" TV spot, we get a better sense of who Superman is up against in this summer's hotly anticipated big screen reboot.

"No matter how violent, every action I take is for the greater good of my people," a menacing, slightly slurred voice says in voice over as we see large scale destruction being rained down upon cities big and small.

  • 'Battlefield Earth,' 'Catwoman' and 'Hudson Hawk' 'Battlefield Earth,' 'Catwoman' and 'Hudson Hawk' (Photo: Everett Collection)

The summer movie season can be like Hollywood's version of hitting the tables in Vegas. The studios put down big bets with the hopes of an even bigger payout. But everyone rolls snake eyes now and again.

Still, there's a difference between a movie that underperforms at the box office and one that downright collapses. Sometimes a film can be so disastrous that its very title becomes synonymous with the word "flop" ("Ishtar," for one). Here are 10 high-profile, big-budget summer movies that bombed and bombed hard.

    Catwoman

    Estimated budget: $100 million
    U.S. gross: $40.2 million

It would've been swell if Tim Burton and Michelle Pfeiffer had made this movie, like they had talked about doing sometime shortly after the release of "Batman Returns" (1992). Instead, we got this monstrosity starring Halle Berry in laughable barely-there leather get-ups that proved Hollywood still didn't quite "get" comic books ... and that
