Jesus Franco, a Spanish writer and director who made close to two hundred films in a career that spanned seven decades, died in Malaga, Spain on Tuesday at the age of 82, due to complications from a stroke.
Franco's twin specialties were horror and eroticism, and he often mixed the two in cult favorites like "Succubus," "She Killed In Ecstasy," "A Virgin Among The Living Dead," "Vampyros Lesbos," and "Daughter of Dracula."

Jane Nebel Henson died in her Connecticut home on Tuesday at the age of 78 following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Then Jane Nebel, she first met Jim Henson in a puppetry class at the University of Maryland in 1954. Still in school, Henson brought Nebel along with him as his co-performer and creator when he was hired at local NBC affiliate in Washington D.C., WRC-TV. "Sam and Friends" was the show, and it garnered a passionate fan base — leading to many memorable Muppets guest appearances on variety shows including "The Tonight Show" (then hosted by Steve Allen).

There's something comforting about the fact that director James Wan doesn't seem to want to really try anything different. He staked his claim as a hot young talent in the horror genre with "Saw" (2004) and has pretty much stayed there, bringing his sense of old-school theatricality to spirited romps such as "Dead Silence" and "Insidious." Even his one genre departure (sort of), the revenge drama "Death Sentence," felt like a grungy horror flick peppered with Wan's playful flourishes and strong sense of visual style.

Mortal Instruments (Screen Gems)
Will "The Mortal Instruments" be the next "Twilight"? Actually, it looks like it's got enough convoluted mythology for five "Twilight"s.
It's been something of a rocky road in finding the next Young Adult sensation upon the conclusion of Stephenie Meyer's astonishingly successful supernatural romance. "The Hunger Games" seems to be doing just fine, though both "Beautiful Creatures" and Meyer's own "The Host" were dead on arrival. Now, Cassandra Clare's fitfully imaginative "The Mortal Instruments" is getting the big-screen treatment, and the results look to be just as overwrought -- and derivative -- as the book.

Dory in 'Finding Dory' (Photo: Walt Disney/Pixar) Cue Ellen DeGeneres' happy dance. The comic is getting top billing to reprise her role as an absent-minded fish in "Finding Dory," the just-announced sequel to Disney-Pixar's 2003 classic, "Finding Nemo."
Disney says "Dory" will swim into theaters on November 25, 2015.
(And in case you're wondering, the lifespan of a Dory-like blue tang fish is well over 10 years. Having said that, Disney says the film takes place about a year after the first film.)
