It’s Anne Hathaway vs. Samuel L. Jackson in a harrowing Holiday ‘Sad Off’

Don't think a Catwoman/Nick Fury get-together isn't going to have its share of tension.

The holiday season arguments have started early as Anne Hathaway and Samuel L. Jackson settle in by the open fire to argue over which is the sadder movie: "Les Miserables" or "Django Unchained." Their epic "Sad Off" comes courtesy of the Funny or Die elves, who have art-directed the battleground with enough Christmas decorations to fill both France and the American South.

Check out the video below. Warning: Lots of swearing. Not Safe for Work:

The Sad Off with Samuel L. Jackson and Anne Hathaway from Samuel L Jackson

The stars defend their respective movies with a series of minor spoilers (apparently some poor fella gets torn apart by dogs in "Django"), segueing every now and then to make observations about their current physical appearances ("I haven't had hair since 'Unbreakable,'" says Jackson), slip in a political jab or two (there probably has been at least one French whore in the White House over the years) and break into random song ("Shut that s**t down!" says Jackson to Hathaway's tearful rendition of "Silent Night").

The best bit has Jackson building a gingerbread slave house, his key visual aid in describing the concept of job security when it comes to slavery. It's kind of a shame that it eventually feels the destructive wrath of Anne.

Ultimately, it's all settled by an agreement that nothing says Christmas quite like slaves and whores. From Anne Hathaway, Samuel L. Jackson and Funny or Die comes the greatest holiday gift of all: The Death of Hoes ... or the Death of Hope. Your choice.

"Les Miserables" and "Django Unchained" both open on Christmas Day.
