I will start by saying I am AGAINST driving in the passing lane IF someone is coming up behind you AND the right lane is clear and safe for you to be in.

... You're driving in the right lane of a highway that has 3 lanes for the direction that YOU are going in ( Car A ), and about a half a mile ahead of you there's another car in the right lane that's obviously going ABOUT the same speed you are going ( Car B ), and behind you another car coming up in the right lane behind you ( Car C ), Car C gets into the middle lane to pass you, after Car C passes you, Car C gets right back into the right lane, THEN Car C catches up to Car B and jumps BACK into the middle lane to pass Car B and THEN AGAIN Car C jumps right back into the right lane right after passing Car B.

Throughout that entire process, there were no hazards on the road, and not ONE car got CLOSE to passing Car C.

Car C = A retard

Yes the left lane is ONLY for passing, and if you throw trash on the floor it's littering, BUT ... you won't get a ticket for littering if you drop something on the ground and then pick it back up, thus, you won't get a ticket for driving in the passing lane as long as you DON'T stay there WHEN there's someone behind you and the right lane is clear and safe for you to be in, right ?

... If you're in the passing lane because you've just passed someone who was in the lane to the right of you, and no one is behind you trying to pass you, look in your mirrors once every 5 - 10 seconds and STAY in that lane UNTIL someone is coming up behind you, and, depending on the size and speed of their vehicle, move over accordingly, OR until a HAZARD appears that would then make it SAFER to be in the right lane INSTEAD of the passing lane

... otherwise, there's NO INTELLIGENT

... INTELLIGENT ...

........ reason to leave that lane.

People like the right lane so they don't have to pay attention to the road as much, they take a look in their mirrors and think "Okay it's clear to get over now so I'll just get over now so I can look at the scenery, talk on the phone, talk to the person in the car with me, etc. and NOT have to watch my mirrors". What reason do I have to lie to you about this subject ? How do I benefit by lying to you about this subject, YOU specifically ? I've never gotten a ticket for left lane driving, nor have I EVER been in any type of accident. People need to learn to use all lanes instead of changing lanes unnecessarily just so that they don't have to watch their mirrors and surroundings ! It's an unsafe practice that becomes an unsafe habit.

Try this : If you're used to getting into the right lane immediately after passing, try staying in the left lane for an extra 10 seconds if there's no one behind you, and then next time, increase it to 20 seconds, etc. You might be surprised at how long you can actually stay over there.

ANYONE that disagrees with my comment wants the left lane all to themselves at the snap of a finger and should thus be ignored.
