Lea Michele Takes You Over the Rainbow in the 'Legends of Oz' Trailer

75 years after our first trip, we still keep heading back to the wonderful world of Oz.

This summer, "Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return" — a new take on the fantastic land created by L. Frank Baum back in 1900 — will hit the screen. It's a 3D animated take on based on the book "Dorothy of Oz" by author Roger Stanton Baum (great-grandson of the creator). Dorothy is back, as the title would indicate, voiced by "Glee" star Lea Michele, and she reunites with old pals the Scarecrow (Dan Aykroyd), the Tin Man (Kelsey Grammer) and the Lion (Jim Belushi), not to mention Glenda the Good Witch (Bernadette Peters). They have to save Oz from a new threat, the villainous Jester (voiced by Martin Short).

"Legends of Oz" follows in the tradition of the beloved 1939 "The Wizard of Oz," which celebrates it's 75th anniversary this year. The celebration has been rolling along since last fall, when the restored IMAX 3D version of the classic film returned to theaters. To mark the occasion, Jerry Maren — the 93-year-old final surviving Munchkin from the film — was honored with the traditional handprint ceremony at the Chinese Theater.

This weekend, Judy Garland's three children — Liza Minelli, Lorna Luft, and Joey Luft — will appear together at the 86th Academy Awards ceremony to honor their mother's most enduring film. "The Wizard of Oz" was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar of 1939, but it lost out to another timeless classic, "Gone With the Wind." The film did win the awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," and Garland received a special Academy Juvenile Award for her performance.

"Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return" drops into theaters on May 9.
