"Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering." — Yoda, "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" (1999)

Adam Driver won't have to ever wonder what his path to the Dark Side is if he ends up taking a villain role in "Star Wars: Episode VII," a deal that's just about set to be signed on the dotted line, according to Variety. The Hollywood Reporter and The Wrap.

Details on Driver's alleged role are of course being kept under wraps, though it looks like he'll be playing a featured bad guy that's "in the vein of the iconic 'Star Wars' villain Darth Vader," according to Variety.

Our guess is that could be Jacen Solo, the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, who turns to the Dark Side and becomes Darth Caedus in the "Expanded Universe" of "Star Wars" books and spin-offs. But as J.J. Abrams isn't speaking to us (or anyone), what do we know, really?

The young actor, currently best known for his portrayal of Adam Sackler on HBO's "Girls," has been in the "Star Wars" casting rumor mill for some time, with The Wrap reporting that he's had to turn down roles in both "Arms and the Dudes" and "Batman vs. Superman" in light of being high on the wanted list.

If Driver signs (and why the heck wouldn't he?), he'll be the first official cast member of "Star Wars: Episode VII" ... besides R2-D2, or course. You can see all of the current rumored contenders for a "Star Wars" role in our intergalactic photo gallery.

Adam Driver was recently seen on the big screen singing "Please Mr. Kennedy" with Oscar Isaac and Justin Timberlake in "Inside Llewyn Davis." He's attached to Martin Scorsese's "Silence" and is currently filming Jeff Nichols' sci-fi drama, "Midnight Special."

"Star Wars: Episode VII" is set to commence with production in April with a look toward a release date of Dec. 18, 2015, so confirmed casting announcements should be coming soon.
