Well, it looks like nobody is going to be calling Peter Parker "Tiger" just yet.

Sony Pictures and director Marc Webb have apparently decided that Parker's love life was complicated enough without the redhead as the character of Mary Jane Watson won't be appearing in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."

Shailene Woodley (a Golden Globe nominee for 2011's "The Descendants") had filmed a handful of scenes as M.J., though none of them will be appearing in the final cut of the film. Instead, the character will be introduced in the third installment.

"Of course I'm bummed. But I am a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason," said Woodley in this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, which focuses on the young star's upcoming YA sci-fi film, "Divergent." "Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand the need for holding off on introducing [Mary Jane] until the next film."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Woodley only worked on the film for three days. Director Marc Webb

  • Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in 'The Lone Ranger' Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in 'The Lone Ranger' (Photo: Walt Disney Pictures)

The Lone Ranger and Tonto: their names are synonymous for "best buds." Even if you've never seen an episode of the old TV show, you know the man in the mask and his Native American companion are inseparable friends. But that wasn't always the case.

You can see that it was literally a shaky start for the pair in this exclusive look at the first official clip from "The Lone Ranger," Disney's summer blockbuster that looks to bring "Pirates of the Caribbean"-style spectacle to the Wild West. Indeed, director Gore Verbinski's knack for vaudevillian and almost slapstick-ish action scenes that require a trained dancer's (or stuntman's) precision to pull off is most definitely on display in this scene.

The sequence takes place early on in "The Lone Ranger," before John Reid (Armie Hammer) dances with death and embraces his fate as a masked rider for justice. Reid and his future partner Tonto (Johnny Depp) are chained together, which makes for some elaborate physical comedy as they make their way

  • 'The Exorcist'Linda Blair starred in the film dramatization, but the real-life story involved a boy (Warner Bros/Everett)

Really, though, it doesn't look a day over 20.

Director William Friedkin's classic horror film "The Exorcist" had its New York City premiere on June 19, 1973, staking its claim in the pop culture consciousness (with a sledgehammer) and changing the face of horror cinema forever. The story of a young girl, Regan (Linda Blair), possessed by a vulgar yet devilishly clever demon who makes for quite the wake-up call for a young priest (Jason Miller) wrestling with a crisis of faith became notorious for reports of audience members fainting from fright ... and for becoming an instantly quotable cult favorite thanks to Regan's rather colorful turns of phrase whilst under the influence of pure foul-mouthed evil.

  • Leonardo DiCaprio & Matthew McConaughey in Paramount Pictures' 'The Wolf of Wall Street'

No one can make breaking the law look like a total blast quite like Martin Scorsese.

After (rather brilliantly) dabbling in family-friendly entertainment with "Hugo" (2011), the Oscar-winning director is back in the genre he knows and does best: the cautionary crime drama.

But before the caution comes the drug-fueled partying, supermodel-romancing, dwarf-tossing (yes, it's true), and even smoking in the conference room as Leonardo DiCaprio throws another Gatsby-sized party – albeit one a lot more decadent and, uh, illegal – in "The Wolf of Wall Street," the year's first sure thing as far as multiple Oscar nominations go. We get our first glimpse of the action in the teaser trailer shown below.

  • Ryan Gosling Is a Very Bad Boy in ‘Only God Forgives’ Trailer

Ryan Gosling in Radius' 'Only God Forgives'

Fans of "Drive" should rejoice, as the second collaboration between director Nicolas Winding Refn and star Ryan Gosling, "Only God Forgives," looks to be quite the companion piece to the 2011 cult favorite.

Indeed, as our exclusive trailer below shows, all of the pretty colors, cool emotional detachment and retro electronica grooves seem to have been transported from southern California to Thailand for another violent tale of bitter revenge with minimal dialogue.

"I know it's hard for you ... emotionally," says Kristin Scott Thomas's Lady Macbeth-ish underworld matriarch in the new trailer for the film, almost making fun of Gosling's trademark dreamy-yet-vaguely-blank-looks. Gosling then stomps around the seediest areas of Bangkok in search of his brother's killer, a mysterious figure named Chang (Vithaya Pansringarm, sporting his own vaguely-blank-looks as he unsheathes swords and creeps around meticulously art-directed

  • Johnny Depp in 'The Lone Ranger'Un-trusty steed: Johnny Depp took a bad spill while filming 'The Lone Ranger' (Photo: Walt Disney Pictures)Whoa, Scout, whoa!

Witnessing actors brave great heights, explosions and other death-defying stunts is usually rather awe-inspiring. Seeing one fall off his really, really fast horse, on the other hand, is truly terrifying.

The actor who took a very dangerous tumble off his mighty steed was none other than Johnny Depp, who now has quite a story to tell from his time shooting "The Lone Ranger," Disney's latest summer movie extravaganza.

  • Matt Damon in 'Elysium'Matt Damon in 'Elysium' (Photo: TriStar Pictures)

Sheesh, Matt Damon ... don't you know police officers don't like smart-aleck jokes? And robot cops even less so?

Our hero finds this out the hard way after he's disciplined for daring to have a sense of humor in such a depressing future world in the new trailer for "Elysium," director Neill Blomkamp's follow-up to his 2009 sci-fi sleeper hit, "District 9."

Damon's character Max De Costa is first seen being scolded by a robot that kind of looks like the Johnny Cab from the original "Total Recall" as it describes his "infraction" at a bus stop. When asked by two rather ominous Cylon-looking patrol 'bots about what he has in his bag, the shaved bald Max dares make light of the inquiry by answering "Hair products, mostly." In this world, such jokey-jokes will only get you hit with a stick, citizen.

But soon enough, Max gets outfitted with a mechanical exoskeleton bolted directly onto his body that gives him the strength to stand up against the metal men and make it a fair fight. And the

  • Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans kissing on the set of 'Captiain America'Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans caught kissing on the set of 'Captiain America' ... in character (ISOIMAGES)

Doesn't Nick Fury have a rule against inter-superhero-organization romance?

There have been several pics surfacing from the set of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" over the past several weeks, including looks at Cap in his upgraded costume and that of his nemesis, the black-clad Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). The most intriguing pic so far, however, hints at the celebrated war hero finally getting a little action that doesn't involve punching and throwing his shield at things.

And with Black Widow, at that! The new set pic features Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) locking lips on what appears to be an escalator (hot!). The Avengers teammates are out of their superhero get-ups with Natasha wearing a hoodie and Rogers in a baseball cap — both good ways to semi-conceal one's identity, which seems in tune with the reported '70s-esque conspiracy thriller vibe of the sequel.

Imagine "300" with more of a woman's touch and you've got a good idea of what to expect with "300: Rise of an Empire," the sequel to the 2007 screen adaptation of Frank Miller's celebrated historical (-ish) graphic novel, "300."

Warner Bros. wisely opens the trailer with narration by Lena Headey, whose sexy yet authoritative voice is now quite familiar to audiences thanks to the runaway HBO hit, "Game of Thrones," followed by images from the original "300" to get audiences back in the right frame of mind ("Oh yeah, that movie I saw more than six years ago!").

Headey returns as Queen Gorgo, now the widow of Leonidas (Gerard Butler), the mighty warrior king who led an army of 300 Spartan men against the invading Persian army at the Battle of Thermopylae (which involve, among other bizarre things, a "battle rhino" or two) — and died valiantly in battle.

'This is the End,' Daniel RadcliffeMaybe they're glum because Daniel Radcliffe wouldn't share screen time with them (Photo: Columbia/Getty)

What's good enough for Hermione apparently isn't good enough for Harry Potter, as Emma Watson is actually filling in for a role intended for Daniel Radcliffe in the all-star apocalypse comedy, "This Is the End."

Radcliffe was actually the first actor that co-writers/directors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg approached to star in the film, though the former "Potter" headliner turned it down.

Evan Goldberg, 'This is the End'Evan Goldberg on Monday in New York (Photo: Cindy Ord/Getty Images)"Two years before we brought it to anybody else, we brought it to Daniel Radcliffe and he rejected it because it was sh---y, it wasn’t good enough," said Goldberg in a recent interview with BuzzFeed. "We got too excited, we jumped the gun on that. If we waited another year, I bet he would have done it."

True to his nice-guy image, Radcliffe was cool about saying no to the project (it actually wasn't quite as harsh an exchange as to involve the Banishing Spell he
